I took an entire month off of working.  After the holiday rush it was a much needed hiatus from my camera, from editing and from photography in general. I can’t help but get burnt out at the end of every year, in fact I haven’t edited Christmas photos of my own family for the last 3 years (how bad is that, THREE YEARS!). Even though I make myself take them, I just can’t find the inspiration to edit them after the piles and piles of client work I cram into the month.

Yesterday, while we were getting changed out of our jammies and ready to head out to the grocery store, I decided to to dust of my camera and throw it into my bag to capture some real moments that really define our life.  Why not take pictures at the grocery store? That was something I really had to ask myself? Why only take pictures of the kids in their perfectly planned outfits? Or of holidays?

So I took my camera with me to the local discount market- where we do our shopping every.single.week.

(OK tangent here- I have to admit I don’t do the grocery shopping, my dear husband usually takes the boys every Saturday so I can get work done, he pretty much rocks. )

The thing I love about Winco is that is has it’s own life and subculture. The down florescent lighting gives it that special mood only fluorescent bulbs can. The handwritten discount signs, the concrete floors, the warehouse ceiling, the customers.

I am making a promise to myself to take more pictures of my family doing real things and having real moments. And on top of that to keep the chronicle here on the blog. I have lots of changes coming here on the blog and started off with a little facelife! Do you like it?
