When this family arrived for our session in Old Sac, they were ready for a good time- and didn’t disappoint! When we were all done and I was walking to my car, I couldn’t believe how many times I laughed that day, both WITH and AT the Pitmans! HA!! The energy that they brought to the table was contagious- Thank you guys for a great time!

I took an entire month off of working. After the holiday rush it was a much needed hiatus from my camera, from editing and from photography in general. I can’t help but get burnt out at the end of every year, in fact I haven’t edited Christmas photos of my own family for the last 3 years (how bad is that, THREE YEARS!). Even though I make myself take them, I just can’t find the inspiration to edit them after the piles and piles of client work I cram into the month.
Yesterday, while we were getting changed out of our jammies and ready to head out to the grocery store, I decided to to dust of my camera and throw it into my bag to capture some real moments that really define our life. Why not take pictures at the grocery store? That was something I really had to ask myself? Why only take pictures of the kids in their perfectly planned outfits? Or of holidays?
So I took my camera with me to the local discount market- where we do our shopping every.single.week.
(OK tangent here- I have to admit I don’t do the grocery shopping, my dear husband usually takes the boys every Saturday so I can get work done, he pretty much rocks. )
The thing I love about Winco is that is has it’s own life and subculture. The down florescent lighting gives it that special mood only fluorescent bulbs can. The handwritten discount signs, the concrete floors, the warehouse ceiling, the customers.

I am making a promise to myself to take more pictures of my family doing real things and having real moments. And on top of that to keep the chronicle here on the blog. I have lots of changes coming here on the blog and started off with a little facelife! Do you like it? You can also now easily follow me on twitter and facebook by clicking on the tabs on the left side of the page. Thanks for looking![]()

“Elvis- that’s what you get when you name your baby drunk around a campfire!” –Jo Clark.
Baby Elvis lives up to his name and more. This kid has smiles for days, and it’s no wonder. I got to spend 2 afternoons with this family and Jo and Chris just radiate with positive energy. Capturing the love they have for one another was effortless and tons of fun!

Many of us have seen the tragic images and heard the heart wrenching stories of Haiti online and on the news. We can do something to help ease these people’s suffering, we can do something to help.
I am teaming up with photographers around the country and joining the online movement called Helping Hearts started by an online photographer friend I have known for years, and together, we’re going to try to do something to help. But, we need you, too! Here’s the deal:
You and your sweetheart could win a romantic photo session at dusk in downtown Sacramento.
- This session will be photographed by myself and will be held the evening of Friday, February 5th.
- Session is for up to 2 adults and will last around an hour.
- Winner will also receive 25 fully processed, high resolution images on CD. Print to your heart’s content!
How to win:
- Make a MINIMUM donation of $10 to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund.
- Forward a copy of your receipt to nicolefieldsphotography@gmail.com.
- All entries must be RECEIVED by midnight (Central time) on January 27th.
- Winner will be drawn at random and announced on January 28th.
- That gives you a week to shop and find a babysitter, if need be.

- You can enter as many times as you’d like, and for every $10 you give, that’s one entry. So $50 would be putting your name in the pot 5 times.
Other details:
- Session participants must sign a model release.
- Session must be held in Sacramento on Feb. 5th.
- If the winner does not claim his/her prize by Feb. 1st or cannot claim the prize, then another winner will be drawn.
But wait! There’s more!
If you are a photographer and would like to hold your own Helping Hearts event to help Haiti, please contact helping hearts ASAP so they can send you everything you need to get started!
And PLEASE blog, Tweet or share this link on Facebook! You can also follow Helping Hearts on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook.
And just to get you in the mood…

Thank you in advance for your donations.
Please look into your heart and give to the people of Haiti.
Thank you,
Nicole
